It’s that time again for our weekly power rankings on the Pac West website so here we go:
#1- So Cal Elite (4-0 Overall) 3-0 Pac West (1-0 South Division)
What can you say, the Elite are undefeated for the second straight season and after a tough battle in the rain against the #3 and previously undefeated Santa Clarita Skyhawks the Elite have secured the #1 spot for yet another week. The Elite are set to face the Hi Desert Heat for the second and final time this season; the Heat who are struggling are in for a tough game as the Elite look to be firing on all cylinders.
#2- High Desert Rams 3-0 Pac West (2-0 North Division)
The Rams faced a gritty East LA Spartans last week and rolled out 35-14 winners. The Rams are now marching on to face the #3 ranked Santa Clarita Skyhawks for control of the Pac West Northern Division and control their own fate for a first round bye.
#3- Santa Calrita Skyhawks 2-1 Pac West (1-0 North Division)
The Skyhawks have come out strong in the early part of the season and a tough loss against the Elite last week showed the Skyhawks that they are on the rise but still need just a little more work to push to the top, enter the High Desert Rams the Pac West’s #2 team and North Division leader. The Skyhawks are seeing the top 2 teams in the league 2 weeks in a row after Saturday we will know exactly where the Skyhawks stand.
#4- Southeast Pirates 2-1 Pac West (1-0 South Division)
The Pirates are fresh off of a 32-0 victory over the Hi Desert Heat and now sit at 2-1 and are taking on the Bakersfield Sharks in what will be a big game for both teams to determine their play off futures, this week is a chance for the Pirates to break out as contenders.
#5- LA Falcons 2-1 Pac West (1-1 South Division)
The Falcons after the strangest start to a season in recent finally got started and pulled out a narrow 22-21 victory over the Bakersfield Sharks. The Falcons have some catching up to do and it starts this week against the East LA Spartans, a win here can put the Falcons in the top half of the league and to try to keep pace with the Pirates and Elite in the South Division.
#6- Bakersfield Sharks (Overall 1-3) 0-3 Pac West (0-2 North Division)
Don’t let the record fool you the Sharks have been in every game they have played but just seem to come out on the short end of the stick. This week against the Pirates in San Diego is the sharks opportunity to get in the win column and climb back into the play off race, it’s not do or die time for the Sharks yet but the ice is getting thinner.
#7- East LA Spartans (Overall 1-3) 0-3 Pac West (0-2 South Division)
The Spartans are a young team that have played hard each week and are experiencing a tough learning curve in their first year in the Pac West , however they are not out of it yet and this week they go head to head with the LA Falcons with South Division play off implications as the Spartans can’t afford to fall behind 2 games for the last play off spot in the south, it’s gut check time in East LA.
#8- Hi Desert Heat 0-3 Pac West (0-1 North Division)
The Heat have struggled mightily thus far this season and when it rains it pours as the Heat have their second and final encounter with the So Cal Elite coming up Saturday. Play offs right now aren’t the concern for the young Heat team they need to crack the scoreboard and show some signs of life on the field, 3 games with 0 points scored is a tough way to start a season and lets hope the boys from Hi Desert get something rolling this week, maybe not a victory but atleast cross the goaline and get themselves kick started to finish out the season.
